What should I do if my property is stolen from my hotel room?

To what extent is the hotel liable?

1. call the hotel manager and they will call the police.they are only liable if a key was used to open up your door.
2. Call the hotel at the front desk and explain the situation. I'm not sure how liable they are for it, unless they can proove that someone from the hotel stole it, or it was their fault. You will probably have to file a police report as well, if it isn't found. If you have travel protection, be sure to get a copy of the report. Then you can claim it when you get home, or get started now, and you should be reimbursed for what was stolen.
3. Report it to the hotel and the police. Hopefully you have travel insurance and can make the claim through them. If not, remember next time, if you can't afford insurance you can't afford to travel. Good luck with it.
