How to press charges for conversion of stolen property in MI?

Someone stole PA equipment being used and stored in a public entertainment liquor establishment. The local sherrif got 1/2 of it returned, but can't or wont help me anymore because the person says they returned all of it. That person was fired, but is the only person named for trial.....anyone got any legal suggestions? I got a name whom my stuff was given to, but don't know source or how to prove it. value over $3000. somebody HELP!

1. I had a similiar situation about 10 years ago here in Michigan. My only recourse was to file a lawsuit and even that proved to be useless. I think you're screwed. sorry :(
