What type of lawyers help people get out of AA to protect their consitutional rights?

I want to go to law school and be a lawyer that works with people that are court mandated to Alcoholics Anonymous and believe it is religious. Are civil rights lawyers the ones that primarily do this? YES AA is religious....the highest court of appeals in New York found it to be religious and unconstitutional. I want to do criminal defense as well but also protect peoples constitutional rights. AA forces people to turn their lives over to a Christian God and prayer is required at the beginning and end of meetings.

  1. AA is not religious, unless you want it to be. Go to a meeting as part of your education, no charge (lawyer joke)
  2. Go ahead and learn civil rights law. Then your clients can thank you from their jail cells, as the alternative to AA is usually jail time
  3. What the heck? AA is not a constitutional right. They do not believe that it is a religion. Where did you come up with this? If a court mandates it then good luck trying to stop them from going. They usually have a problem and need help. Maybe you should pick another field.
  4. Are you sure you want to go to law school just for this one issue? You seem to have your priorities mixed up here. But yes, civil rights lawyers would do this.
