violation of intellectual property?

is it applied if i insert comments found from other sites acknowledging that site after or before that comment? do i have to obtain proper permission directly from that site since i have already mentioned that i've obtained that info/comment from that particular site (including inserting a link to that site) ? Will I be charged of violation of intellectual property this way?

Public Comments

  1. As long as you are properly citing the site, you should be fine. You are giving credit that the idea or phrase were not your own. You are not stealing it- as long as you cited where you got the information.
  2. You must have the permission of the owner of the information. Merely providing a link is not always sufficient.
  3. All depends on the site policy. If that comment or information was considered for public, mentioning the site address is good enough; if those information is only for member grade, then you may have problem.
  4. books and other publically available materials aree copyrighted but you can certainly quote from them provided you give due credit. footnotes are required for all direct quotes. and a bibliography should contain all the sources used for general reference
