is the law wrong or are we?

2. where do you live? because in the united states... its only wrong to have sex with a minor not to date one. though in some cases its wrong but its not against the law.

5. Yes, the law is wrong, it should be people over 18 are not allowed to date anyone younger than 15/16ish. That law is just there to prevent pedophiles from dating young women.

8. It's legal to date as long as you aren't having sex. The law only cares if you are involved sexually. The law is right about people not having sex before 18. There is nothing preventing you from dating though.
9. I think the law is clearly wrong. It criminalizes on an arbitary metric, where one day it's legal and the next day (the birthday of one of the pair) it becomes illegal. There is no change in the status of the relationship or any change in the potential harm, yet the law deems it illegal. That is plain stupid and wrong. A 17.9 yr old does not need protecting from an 18.1 yr old in the same way a younger child needs protecting from a predatory pedophile.

11. i know exactly what you are talking about my first love and heartbreak he is 18 and im 15 i think the law is wrong becuz we cant help it of who we fall in love with or like.so if u guys really like each other then you guys are right dont let nothin stop you!the only bad thing is that if ur parents find out and they dont like the idea ur BF can get into trouble big time so becareful and take care=)
12. Great question. In my personal opinion, every situation is very different and unique. These laws were made to prevent older people from preying on younger, underage people because most (not all) underage people are not yet mentally ready for some "adult" things. I'm not referring to just sex, I'm referring to things like having children or raising a family. I know you don't like being told that you are too young to understand something or too young to be in love. I hated being told that when I was your age. But the truth is we have all been where you are now. We were all your age once and given the opportunity I think a lot of us would change our past if we could. I'm not saying that what you and your boyfriend has is not special or genuine at all. What I am saying is that the law is in place to protect you should your boyfriend, or any other man for that matter, were to use your youth and inexperience to prey on you.
