Charged with possession of stolen property and possession of THC.?
From Riverside, CA. I was cought red handed with a stolen streetbike in my garage. I'm thinking about pleeding guilty to obtain a lighter sentence. I'm hoping to get no more then three years probation and maybe some house arrest time. I would perfer less then that, but I know I commited a crime and I have to suffer some sort of punishment. I have no prior's. I'm trying to avoid the felony (with out a strike). Any real advice?

- If you were caught red-handed then I suggest pleading guilty. It may or may not get you a lighter sentence, but the repercussions will ultimately be worse if you plead not guilty and are then found to be guilty (which it sounds like there is a good chance of happening). If nothing else, the case will drag out longer and be a horrible burden looming over you. Learn from this mistake!
- What bargaining chip do you have? Your best bet would be to plead to a low level felony with hopes of having it reduced after successful completion of sentence. In return they are going to want names and information, so the question is what is a bigger threat, avoiding a felony or making some people reaaly not like you?
- Hire a public defender, and make sure the officer had a legal search warrant to possess the bike for evidence. Never plead guilty....
- If you get the strike, move out of california to avoid any more strikes.
- THC???? or CDS??? Although you are willing to admit and accept responsibility for your actions I don't know if you'll get much sympathy from most. People are quick to judge when they've not been there. I've been on your side of the street and know that people are one-sided till it bites them in the A#S! In Okla. 3 would sound about right. I never was arrested when I lived in Rialto so I don't know much about the system there!
- I do not know enough about this case to offer any cogent advice. Neither does anyone else who posts an answer. There is only one thing which is certainly true: you should NOT try to handle this matter without an attorney. Period.
