Why do a lot of military people hate lawyers?

Who do a lot of military personnel dislike lawyers? I've often heard many individuals in the military call them the scurge of society and scum of the earth. Why is this? What do lawyers do to make others hate them so much? Defend guilty people? What about hard nosed prosecuters that go head strong into trying to prosecute innocent people? Why are lawyers hated so much? Because they make more money than you?

1. Lawyers exploit the law and look for loopholes. They wake up and think "How can I fuck over the world today?" -x- I have no problem with it, personally. It's their job. However, there are those who believe they are doing bad to society. It's almost like Slaughter houses. Some agree with it, some don't. Either way, it doesn't effect what happens there.
2. this seems a bit too broad of an assertion, but i guess maybe SOME (not all) lawyers screw over honest, hardworking people and exploit them for cash through technicalities and flaws in our legal system
3. They are opposites. Military people live according to the basic code, "I will not lie, cheat or steal nor tolerate those who do." Since lawyers will do what it takes for their one client, it is quite understandable why military people will not tolerate lawyers. The real oxymoron are military lawyers. They must hate themselves.
4. Never heard this stereotype before. My experience with lawyers is mixed, although I feel like I was over charged, I have always gotten a satisfactory outcome. Soldiers generally get along with most folks except maybe anti-war protesters at our fallen comrades funerals....

6. Its not a military thing.. thats said by most people.. i've never heard it at an abnormal rate from military personnel.. no more so than any other person
7. Not just military people hate lawyers. Most of the lawyers I know hate lawyers. Lawyers make money off of the pain and suffering of others and add to the pain and suffering of others. If you're worried about people hating you, don't become a lawyer.

10. It is not just the military, most people hate them, where do you think all those lawyer jokes come from, the Army? Also what profession do you think most politicians come from?

12. Lawyers are universally despised. Forget Matlock, some lawyers are true soldiers of fortune - they earn massive sums of money, often for defending foul characters. If you're looking for a profession the military hate, try Journalism - many soldiers think Journalists go out of their way to stand in the military's path.
