i have a question about reciving stolen property cases?

My boyfiend has his court date for his reciveing stolen property charges what happend was his dad his the stuff under the couch and when the cops found it my boyfriend was sleeping on that couch i know its a felony three so can anybody tell me whats going to happen or know any thing about it? not my dad his dad and his dads in the same boat..bubba is just thrown into it
