I keep getting property stolen at school. What can I get from the school? I live in Florida. <-- That just explained WHY my stuff keeps getting stolen. What I'm asking is how I can get the school do to something for me. Maybe replace my lost property (iPod and a gold chain) or at least taking steps to prevent thefts from happening. These people let anybody who wants in into our locker rooms and they salvage for anything to sell. I'm sick and tired of this as 2 things were stolen from me in the last 2 days.
Do the police actually investigate stolen property reports? Credit cards were stolen (among other items) from my vehicle today. Police considering it grand theft for the dollar amount. The sheriff who took the report called me a few minutes ago and asked if I wanted them to dust my car for prints. I told him sure why not but I don't feel like it will ever do any good. I've had so many things stolen and the cops never find it. When I called to report my credit card stolen they told me someone already tried to use my card twice and two large chain stores (credit card company declined to the high dollar amount/suspicious activity). I mentioned this to the sheriff and he told me to call up the detectives and let them know in the morning. I would assume they got these guys on video. But will they really take the time to investigate? My g/f's mom had her bank card stolen and cash was stolen from her ATM. She had to pay $500 to have the "tape reviewed" to prove it wasn't her. Doesn't seem right for some reason.
How do you report stolen property? How can you find out if a gun is stolen property? My cousin is offering me a really good deal on a particularly rare handgun -- the problem is, I don't trust him and I think he's a bit shady. Where would be a good (and free!) place to submit the serial number and see if this is legit?
How can I get back stolen property? I recently bought a flat panel LCD TV for a birthday and X-mas gift. Someone broke into the house and stole it with a Nintendo Wii. Is there a way to get it back other than wait for the cops to find the people? Can the store I ordered it from somehow help? Is there a way to track it, if it gets sold in the streets?
Is this considered possesion of stolen property? I have a friend (ehm) that has a working newspaper stand that is in his possesion. It was "removed from service" 6 or 7 years ago. Can this very good friend of mine get in any trouble for possesing this? It is the type that you insert coins into and was removed from another city. I'd like to hear a professionals opinion if there is one out there. Thanks!
What are my rights concerning property stolen from my vehicle when in the possesion of a valet service? I recently used a valet service while attending a conference at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, When my car was returned I was missing close to $500.00 dollars worth of property @ pair of oakley sunglasses, an i Pod, etc... I filed a police report, and submitted a claim to the parking service company which they denied stating that they do not accept liability for personal Items left in the vehicle and stated that this is printed on the back of the ticket. Is there legally any truth to this?
How do police prove that property is stolen? If a defendant is in possession of a number of items that match those stolen during a burglary, but the serial numbers have been removed from the items, how can police prove the defendant does not own them? They may check his finance records, but I'd assume there'd be reasonable doubt that he could have received the items as gifts.

What is the Statute of Limitations in Pennsylvania For Felony Theft / Forgery and Receiving Stolen Property? I live in Alabama and found that I had an outstanding warrant in Pennsylvania from 2000. I moved from PA in July of 2000. The alleged crime was reported August of 2000. And a warrant was issued in September of 2000. The report said that I had stolen a check from my roommates, forged their name on it and cashed it in the amount of $425.00. The bank teller had identified me from my drivers license as the person who cashed it. I have not been back to Pennsylvania since I left in July of 2000. And Can they come to Alabama and extradite me?

How to get stolen property back...legal advice? I had a Great Dane stolen from me by an ex girlfriend a year ago and I just finally finished the process of getting the papers reissued in my name. NOW.... how do I go about getting the dog back from her? I know animals are considered property by law, so it would basically be the same as someone having a vehicle that you own. So do I just go to the police station and show them the papers and have them recover the dog for me? Or is there a better procedure? PLEASE, only knowledgable, well informed, and professional answers only. The papers were "stolen" along with the dog and never submitted to the AKC....so, I had to get a new litter number issued to that particular dog and I have the papers in my possesion now, with my name on them. Aside from that, I purchased the dog. She came into possession of the dog by taking it when we broke up. If I had several thousand dollars to spend on an attorney just to get my dog back I would, thus, I am asking for good answers on here because that is what this site is for. YET, for some reason, only half of the answers you get on here are actually any help.... This isn't a case for small claims court as small claims is not for property disputes, only monetary issues. Yes, I asked for it back..... and she refused as she feels the dog is hers. However, I bought it, took care of it, and my names on the papers, so it is mine. She has no means to prove the dog was a gift other than word of mouth.
What is "recieving stolen property"? I am currently, possibly, being formally cautioned for buying stolen property. I don't understand what this crime actually involves. The example (not real) below: A person offers to sell an item, i purchase it knowing it is stolen with the express intention of returning it to the owner as it is valuable and possibly highly personal. Is this a crime? Does the intention of returning the stolen item mean a crime is being committed, as there is no intention of depriving the original owner (no reward is requested) In my case, the police were informed when i contacted the owner to inform him of property and offered to return it
Tax liability for settlement from stolen real estate property? I have a plot of vacant land that was falsely sold as a result of identity theft. The title company is going to offer a cash settlement. At what rate will the cash I receive be taxed? Does it count as earned income? I had no intention of selling the property, in the first place, now I'm afraid of being taxed on the settlement. The property I owned was a gift from my parents for which I paid nothing. Thanks.
Is my property management liable for stolen property on my rental home if she provided key to her vendors? My property management placed a key box so that her vendors can enter my rental property to fix or repair areas. She called me to state that my fridge & gas stove have been stolen. The only one with a code to the lock box was her maintenance vendor. There was no forced entry. Isn't my property management liable for having the maintenance person replace my appliances, and if he doesn't, isn't she? My new tenant just moved in WITHOUT her fridge & stove available, and property management tells me to purchase new ones ASAP!!! WHAT?!!??!! Thank you for advices, this property was our vacation home & only rented once; I also did not purchase homeowner's insurance, so nothing to claim. The new tenant just moved in yesterday & I do feel awful! I am totally upset about the negligent effort on my property management part. Should I just fire her or wait on her response from her discussion with her vendor Monday to see if he will cover this?
How to press charges for conversion of stolen property in MI? Someone stole PA equipment being used and stored in a public entertainment liquor establishment. The local sherrif got 1/2 of it returned, but can't or wont help me anymore because the person says they returned all of it. That person was fired, but is the only person named for trial.....anyone got any legal suggestions? I need to know what type of laywer i need when personal property is stolen from a place of business? I took my dirt bike to a bike shop to have them look at it and tell me what was wrong with it and a day after i dropped it off they had a break in and it was stolen. Stolen Property? Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson go on a camping trip. After a good dinner and a bottle of wine, they retire for the night, and go to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes wakes up and nudges his faithful friend. “Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see.” “I see millions and millions of stars, Holmes” replies Watson. “And what do you deduce from that?” Watson ponders for a minute. “Well, Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful, and that we are a small and insignificant part of the universe. But what does it tell you, Holmes?” Holmes is silent for a moment. “Watson, you idiot!” he says. “Someone has stolen our tent!”
Looking for property stolen from me by my ex husband! It was auctioned off by a storage co w/out my knowledge. I am looking for my property that was stolen by my ex that he put into storage up in Olympia, WA. It has been many years that this happened ago, but I've been looking ever since I found out he stole it all and let it go to auction. This happened sometime in 1996-1997. There are many family heirlooms and irreplacable photos. It includes childhood memorabilia, personilized items, ect... Any help in locating these things would be greatly appreciated. He also stole our daughters things and let them go to auction too. (Baby book, pictures, original CPK's and other collectibles). My daughter would also be very happy to see her stolen property again (she's 10). Maybe this year will be the year Santa answers our letters and we get what we've been searching years for.
Reclaiming "Stolen" Property? My husband and I are suspicious that someone in our flat building has stolen a magazine that was posted to us (we have a crap communal mailbox area). He [my husband] saw the magazine in the morning before leaving for work but it was gone when we returned in the evening. Question is, how do we go about finding out what's happened to it without sounding like we're accusing our neighbours of stealing our property?
Real Estate Property Stolen? Has anyone known someone or personally experienced the unfortunate ordeal of having their Real Estate Stolen? If yes what was the outcome? If anyone was able to retrieve their stolen property, how was that accomplished? In more lengthy details:It started 10 yrs ago. I the Sole Heir to my father's Estate. Someone filed a Probate Case W/local courts(til this day I've not be able to figure out why there were 2 seperate Judges that opened this Probate case)This case was considered by California State Laws as "INTESTATE."Little did I know in the beginning that the day my father died it was mine. With no experience nor education in referrence to the laws of when a loved one dies/probate/living trust etc. Many attempts to put this bogus case to rest all the courts dockets/case summary will show that every petition I filed to close this case was "DENIED."One incident shows a Judge reversing a trial ruling(ruling was alot of people trying to get paid for false actions/fraudulant claims, were all DENIED)This reverse was done outside apellant courts & w/o any explanations. So everyone got paid ex-paralegal got paid 3 times ea.@$40,000.00.There were no loans, liens, taxes owed.Atty steps in & filed Unlawful Detainner After finding this out I supplied the courts a Purple Certified Raised Sealed Stamped from our Registrar's Office(public records)How did this Atty succeed? He suddenly files his petions with MISSPELLING of names(my deceased fathers & my name)So everytime I'd go to the courts to find any calender dates reserved for this Unlawful Detainner. Never did I expect to look for deliberate misspelled parties names. So it appeared that I never showed up to fight this matter. This unlawful detainner case Judge was the same Judge that reversed a trial ruling & 1 of the 2 Judges that originally opened the same Probate case. Every month I go to Public Records & request the history on my address & my name does not appear, like I never existed. I buy certified copies. Then I get back in line & provide my Recorded Document Number, then I appear out of nowhere. You should here the comments I have rec. in this regard. LOL I was told to get someone to put lien on my property &sign/release it back 2 me?

What is the Statue of Limitations for stolen property? about 2 months ago i purchased a computer ($600) off of someone on cragislist. The next day after some digging I found out that it was stolen and contacted the owner. After some emails back and forth the police said that I could return it to the rightful owner. Being that he lives 2 hours away, he wanted me to ship it. I asked him to please come pick it up because I did not feel comfortable shipping the computer. I have not heard from him since Oct. 15th. I live in California and was wondering if anyone can tell me what the Statue of Limitations is for him to request the property back? Thanks!
I just received a notice to appeer in Court for "Misdemeanor: Accepting Stolen Property"? I have no knowledge of accepting any stolen property but I do remember an incident not so long ago when my "friend" stole a cell phone from a kid and ran away. I was the driver and didnt know how to react and just drove away. I've never done anything bad in my entire life to deserve this. That day he was caught and I was as well, but I since It really wasnt my decision they only held me downtown and took away my car. I felt like the world was falling on me when that happened. As a result of that I never hung out with that friend again. What should I do? What should I expect as punishment? I don't think jail, but they may put it on my record. I really don't want anything like that on my record that will affect my chances at a job. Should I just tell the Judge what happened? I honestly didnt feel right away leaving from the scene but I felt as If I had no choice. I can't afford an Attorney. If I could just buy the kid a new phone I would. What should I do?
personal property stolen from company truck while it was on company property? Hello, i'm a truck driver. i work for a trucking company driving a tractor trailer. i am required to park the companys equipment on their property while im off duty for the weekends or hometime etc, this past saturday evening i got to the yard(companies property) where they want me to park got in my car and went home. that night someone broke a window out of the truck and stole my 400 dollar cb radio. this place has no guard on duty and they have a camera system but it isnt set up completly so no recording and there is no one in the office on weekends anyway. Is the company liable for my cb radio? yes they have replaced the window already. no they have never contacted me on the cb. however they are not disputing that i had the cb, i even have a reciept from work i had done to it 6 days prior. they told me that they didnt have insurance to cover it and they would give me 100 bucks to help me with getting a new one but that is something that they dont normally do. just doing it hoping i won't quit because they like me working for them. or so they say. and they are turning their window damage into their insurance company. i know this because they were getting a police report for themselves. should i persue this matter with a lawyer or would it be a waste of my time ya think? thanks very much for you input
Stolen property or not? If my (soon to be ex) mother-in-law took mine and my daughter's personal things out of my husband's house without my knowlege or permission, put them in a storage building and told me I had one week to get the stuff out when I was laid up with a shoulder injury...would that be considered theft of property? She had since changed the locks and told me if I wanted my "junk" then I had to pay her MORE than what the storage bill is to get it out. I was given no notice that it would be moved out. And it was her that did it, not my soon to be ex. It is not her property, her house, her belongings. It is however HER storage building. Can I try to press charges? I am not in a community property state, but an equitable property state. What was his prior to the marriage is his after, what was mine prior to the marriage is mine after. Anything we bought together has to be split equally.
Stolen Property at Disneyland? I'm currently a CM at Disneyland Resort, recently hired in about a month ago. It shouldn't be too hard to guess which location I work in mmm. So this Monday (2/25), I showed up for work and changed into my Uniform. I put my personal clothes into my Back Pack and into a Locker outside of the Men's Changing Room. Disneyland issues us company Combination Locks to put on the Lockers, which I did. Made sure it was locked also. After I came back from my shift, I found my lock opened and the contents of the locker I had chosen empty. Someone had broke into the locker and stole my back pack. I'm a full time student so I show up to work right after I get out of school. I had at least $400 worth inside my backpack at the time. - iPod Nano ($200) - Graphing Calculator ($100) - Audio-Technica Headphones ($100) - Personal Clothes ($60) - Books for class ($60) - My Binder Full of Essays, Hand-Outs, and Notes I had taken All Semester (Can't really put a price on that) I contacted Disneyland Security, Anaheim Police Dept, Guest Services and Lost & Found. So far they all summed up theres nothing they can do for me but "investigate". My chances of seeing my belongs again feel very hopeless. The cost of me replacing all of this stuff is my entire paycheck for the whole month. All those hours I worked trying to save money before I go to college. I'm 17 and Senior in High School. The hardest part about dealing with this situation is knowing I probably will never get my binder back. : / Inside it was pretty much my entire High School portfolio: Critiqued Essays, Music Theory Notes, and Econ Stock Analysis. My Employee Manual says Disneyland Resort is not responsible for CM Theft, but I was thinking that since it was a Company Issued Lock, the Company is at fault for my loss? I understand if I had left it lying around, it was just asking to be stolen, but I had placed my back pack in the designated area with the mandatory company lock that had given me. - So should I ask them to reimburse me ?(I really don't want to spend this months entire paycheck : /...) - And If Disneyland refused to reimburse me, Should I/Can I take legal action? - Will taking legal action be worth it? I hear legal fees would be expensive... Sorry If this was a bit long to read, Thank you for your time. **No the Lock was not cut off. It was simply open hanging from the locker door.**
Get stolen property back ! HELP !? Hi got some camera stolen from my house. Police came, report filed, etc. They arrested the burglar but never found the camera. Now I found it, was sold in ebay. The seller is a well known shop, called the police, they said that they will try but if the buyer bought in good faith ( not knowing it was stolen ), they cannot recover the camera under UK law. Is this possible ?! I got invoice, serial numbers ( thats how I tracked it down ), etc. If the buyer of my stolen camera bought it under good faith ( and for the selling price, I believed he did ) , can he keep the camera ? Cant the police do nothing about it ? In continental europe I know how it works ( im a conti ) but UK law puzzles me. Any help please ?
stolen property- no forced entry--------------landlords negligence? someone stole a few belongings from my friends apartment in september and the landlord said if she secure the apartment it would be deducted form the rent. My friend was pregnant and didnt feel safe so she got window gates and a new door lock installed. A few weeks later thats when she was told it would not be deducted. we are not even worried about her stolen belongings anymore but for her safety as well as her unborn child. Now the landlord is taking her to landlord tenant court and possible eviction. She feel the landlord has not live up to "warranty of habitability". When she moved in she failed o notice that the kitchen cubburds were filled with insect- the apartment still gets insects and flies. The window to her fire escape wasnt installed correct leaving the window to open from the outside when it is locked on the inside. Then later being informed about this information by the super who in turn has a copy of everyones key......... then on top of that the super said he saw the person enter her apartment but failed to notify police. Which sounds fishy to me who would enter another persons apartment throught the fire escape in broad daylight and were there is traffic? But anywway, she has police report- receipt for the work. What other documents do she need to win the case? the only problem is, is that she doesnt have a written document about the work beind deducted form nov rent- all she has is verbal agreement which they are now denying. So she hasnt payed rent becasue she wants to straighten everything out before- becasue it is confusing right now. Can you help assist her in winning this case? If you need more info email me also when she spoke to the police they remembered this apartment for being robbed before she moved in the same way no froced entry. So She is pretty sure the landlords know that apartment has a history of being robbed and they still failed to secure the apartment from further burglary
Can stolen property be used against you? I had a laptop stolen from my house. I had a lot of personal things on it, including private videos that contained nudity, drug use (marijuana), etc. If the police find the person who stole my laptop, could they turn around and file charges against me for what is contained on my laptop? I would like to know before I file a police report. Thanks. No child porn at all - I didnt want to come out and say it, but basically sexual videos ive made with girls ive dated - no hidden cameras or anything like that, all with their consent - No drug deals, but videos of me and some friends smoking weed - I also had about 2000 pictures of myself, friends, family, and any hot girl ive ever come across on myspace, I have saved their picture I think lol I can be paranoid but I had a lot on the laptop- luckily I backed up my stuff awhile ago, but im not very happy that someone has so much personal info/video/pics that I never intended anyone else to see- especially the girls who made the videos with me Why would they ask qs about pictures?? Is it illegal to right click save on photos? I save just about anything interesting (or nice to look at lol) that I come across - certainly ive never been told saving pictures for your own personal collection/gallery is illegal- and thats what I would tell them lol None of the photos are altered, nude, etc... I make lots of videos, slideshows, movies - none for commerical use Thanks for all the great answers. Im 99% sure there is nothing that would get me in trouble on it, but at the least you guys are right it would be a giant hassle, so im not reporting it stolen.
Stolen property on eBay? My company sells an exclusive product at a trade price of over £1000 & somebody is selling one (allegedly new) on eBay with a start price of £500. Could it be stolen & if so - how do I notify eBay? Ok 3 answers - time for more details. The product is a computer system. It has been designed exclusively for my company. It would have been stolen from one of our dealers - not directly from us. At least one of our dealers has been ripped off for one of these systems & the only way to find out who we originally sold it to is to get the serial number from the underside of the system.
Civil Law And Stolen Property? I have sheep that were on another persons property with the owners permission. After a few months we took most back but left eight behind. When we went back to claim the sheep that we left the owner would not give them back to us as they claimed they were now theirs stating that we gave them to them when it was clearly not true nor did we ever say such a thing. They are tagged and ear marked with our own brand and the owner was provided feed for their own stock as well as our own paid by myself. I phoned the police on this matter once the owner became quite abusive towards me. The police say as no contract was ever written saying that my sheep would stay for so long on this persons property that there is nothing I can do and it is now considered apart of Civil Law. Legally the sheep belong to me but I can not remove them from her property or force the owner to return them back to me. What do I do as I really need help here ???

So, how can i in the future set someone up for a trap and catch the thief? One idea of my was to hide a small transponder inside one of "undercover" pop cans so I can hoam in on the loot? Anyone have better Idea? I live at apartments and truck was parked in complete good view of second floor and their balcony which is across from me, I think the guys on second floor did it. Charged with receiving stolen property? I have a friend who was summons to court with the above charge. The crime was not commited, there is no witness to the supposed crime, only assumption, and there is no proof this person ever received the property. The police did not even bother searching because it was such a silly accusation, but felt there was enough evidence in the accusation to charge. This person tried to get the state state to seize a starving and neglected dog, and then it dissappeared. The owners are blaming this person as they had the dogs interest in mind prior to the dog missing. Can this person go to jail or be fined when there is no proof of anything at all? The funny thing is, the 'owners' are not even looking for the dog, and supposedly waited 3 days before even reporting it missing. The dog was not even theirs, they were being paid to care for it by someone who moved away. (they prob still are). They have not looked for the dog at all, or had the police look for it. They filed the complaint with the local animal control, because he had been to the house frequently looking for a reason to take the dog cause they knew of him. He is the one who handed it over to the police.
Jail for receiving stolen property?and "burglary" tools? So me and my friend go to play soccer and on our way we decide to meet up with somebody somewhere so that he could follow us to where the soccer practice is at. While we wait for him my idiot friend decides to get out into somebodys unlocked car and take their stuff. after finishing playing soccer he goes off with somebody else but left his things in my car. i didnt want anything to do with his stolen things so i get rid of them and give them to somebody else so he can pick them up later. Later on at night me and my girlfriend are fighting and he comes back to try and shut us up so he can get his stuff back. Somebody calls the cops saying we are being loud and we both get pulled over at different spots, and when they let us go i went back to see why they had arrested him and the guy that drove him to pick up his things. The cop said "you know these guys?" i said 'yeah' and with that they decided to search my car and i forgot to get rid of a $100 calculator that he had left in my car.
What are my rights on Stolen Property? I purchased a laptop 2 years ago from a Power seller on eBay for £500. The positive feedback and the number of transactions gave me confidence to purchase this particular item. However this morning I received a visit from the Metropolitan Police (who were appearing on behalf of the Nottingham Police Force) that the laptop I had purchased was actually stolen. They requested that I hand it over as part of their evidence for their case. I bought the Laptop in good faith, unknowing it was stolen. I have 2 years worth of photos, emails, videos and documents that I have to give up? Please advise me on what steps I can take.
Charged with possession of stolen property and possession of THC.? From Riverside, CA. I was cought red handed with a stolen streetbike in my garage. I'm thinking about pleeding guilty to obtain a lighter sentence. I'm hoping to get no more then three years probation and maybe some house arrest time. I would perfer less then that, but I know I commited a crime and I have to suffer some sort of punishment. I have no prior's. I'm trying to avoid the felony (with out a strike). Any real advice?

The police said this matter is civil n they wont help, but stuff was all bought used at garage sales n stuff n i have no reciepts. i do have the 48 inch tv remote tho. what can i do to get my stuff back??? will i go to jail for receiving stolen property?possesion of burglary tools? its my first offense. i was pulled over with a calculator i didnt know was left in my car that was stolen and the cops also said that my bike pump i use to pump up all the balls in my car was a burglary tool because the handle was broken and so i taped a screwdriver to the broken handle. i actually taped it there so i could pull/push the pump to pump up the soccer balls. iim being charged with all of this because my friend was pulled over near my house and i drove over there when i saw they were arresting him, I ASKED the cops why they were arresting him and they said "you know this guy?" and when i told them yeah they searched my car too. they think that i went around stealing with him and thats why my penalty is so much is what they told me. but if he has the chance to explain to them that i didnt have anything to do with it he would. but i went to court once for an arraignment i think it was called and they offered me 180 days of jail, 3yrs probation, and a $500 fine. after i told them no to the first offer then they offered me 90 days instead of 180 but with everything else being the same. when my friend went they offered him the same but with 30 days instead of 90. his public defender told him that mine most likely got reduced to the same thing also the next courtdate is a pre-trial..i dont know what goes on there oh and i have NO PREVIOUS CRIMINAL RECORD AND THE CALCULATOR IN MY CAR WAS WORTH $100 the other guy had tons of stuff maybe not over 400 dollars though
