What law career should i pursue to be able to use languages: International Law? I am interested in law school once I finish college, but I want to practice some kind of law where I would get to use languages. I am working on my French fluency and am also studying Chinese. What is the best field? I am not particularly interested in Public International Law, but am interested in International Business Law. I am not interested in living abroad or travelling every week of the year, but more of something where I would travel once in a while to other countries to negotiate deals, etc. Do most firms have lawyers who specialize in dealings abroad, and would they actually use languages?
What is the best profession in Law that an Economics graduate can pursue? As we all know there is no "typical lawyer." There are many "professions" within the profession of law. I have a degree in Economics and I would like to know where my training in the discipline would be maximized. Would it be when i specialize in criminal law, family law, personal injury or defective product litigation, trust and estate law, business transactions and litigation, tax law, employment or labor law, environmental law, patent and trademark law, civil rights litigation, or in other specialized areas?
What exactly does the law and ethics have to do with each other? As a hopeful lawyer soon-to-be (okay wannabe, you made me say it) what does ethics have to do with the law? I mean, I know ethics has good intentions. It can restrict lawyers from doing bad things. But it also gives criminals leeway to get away from the law? How do they complement each other? If you know the origin of "ethics" (from "ethos") and logic (from "logos") upon which much of the laws have been built in the history of the world, you'll see why the Ancient Greeks called them branches of Philosophy. So why have we only taken "ethics" and "logic" from Philosophy and applied it to the law? There's aesthetics, metaphysics, and others? Seems like the law is just trying to keep out the others. I say get rid of ethics and everything will be fine.
What law prohibits auto dealers from acceping a lower bid on an advertized sticker price of a car? A CA auto dealership stated that no negotiation (for a lower price) cold be considered on a used car because of a new 2008 (April) law, which states that an advertized price (newspaper) and sticker price on the car could not be lowered through negotiation. Does anyone know of this new law? If so, where can read about this law that prohibits a lower price offer on an advertized "special" price on a used car?
Is patent law saturated? How competitive is the field?Should I work for a corporation or law firm for entry? I have a BSEE from great school and MSEE from a good school. I am currently working as an engineer at a large corporation. I am interested in going to law school part time to become a patent lawyer. I'm fascinated with new technologies, I'm an above average writer, and I am growing weary of corporate life of an engineer. Is patent law a good field? How hard is it to get a job? What type of hours would one typically work? Thanks!
Can the second law of thermodynamics apply to any situation in the universe? I know that the second law has to do with entropy and the fact that everything in the universe will eventually come to the most disorganized state possible. I have heard people use this law in biology, saying that life on Earth couldn't have begun without some outside force because amino acids wouldn't combine to become more complex, since this goes against the natural entropic properties of the universe. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? If possible, please explain more on the second law.
What law is it that allows you to retire after 17 years in the military? I've seen people retire after 17 years due to things like PRT failures and they always say it's a law that you can't get kicked out unless you do something illegal once you hit 17. It makes sense to me because if the military could get away with it they would kick everyone out after 19 and 364 days to save money. Can someone please give me the law or instruction number? I can't find it anywhere.
What is the ohio law pertaining to juviniles being tried as adults? I have a boy who is 16, he is being charged with murder and attempted murder. He had always been a good kid, and has had no past experience with law enforcement. I was told he was being transferred to adult courts due to the circumstances of the crime, and the law. I would like to know what law provides for a child to be tried as an adult. I can't seem to find it myself.
Kansas Employment Law: Is it illegal to work for two different grocery stores? My daughter works at a very small health food co-op in one town and recently got a job at a chain grocery store in a neighboring town. The chain told her she'd have to quit her co-op job due to a KS law stating you can't work in two different grocery stores. I could see this as a store policy, but is it really a law?
What law books should I read to prepare for law school? I would like to prepare for my first year in law school. I am looking to purchase books on torts, contracts, civil procedure, constitutional law, and criminal law. Any recommendations on which books to read? I've heard Gilbert's Law Reviews have good outlines, but is it easy to read and understand? Please advise.
According to what law must the universe exist? In physics we observe the phenomena and try to find out the governing laws (or rules, whatever) behind them. Now, is there a rule explaining the existence of our physical world (especially in this particular form of it if you do not believe in parallel universes)? Consider the following answers: 1.If you say 'Yes, there exists the law X from which you can deduce that the universe must exist', then you have assumed the existence of this law before concluding the universe's existence. Then where (in what universe) does that law exist when nothing (no world) still exists? Haven't you assumed the conclusion before concluding it? 2.If you say 'No, there is no such a law', then what the hell is the whole physics based on? Can we believe that there are governing laws explaining every (at least most, regarding the common-though controversial-philosophical interpretation of quantum mechanics) phenomena we observe, but there is no rule explaining the biggest phenomenon ever observed?! 3. 3.If you say 'OK, there are laws governing the universe, but its existence is an exception', then isn't it an ad hoc escape from the conflict? Is it more useful than saying 'It is as it is'? If it is this much easy for you to accept such an existence without any logical justification, isn't it the same much easy to accept God's existence and say 'existence belongs to God and is not ruled. The existence of the universe and its apparent rules is a result of His existence'? 4.It remains for you to deny any existence of any kind if you do not wish to face the consequences of accepting any of the previous answers. In contrast with Descartes' famous endeavor to prove his existence, I cannot assure you of your existence. But have you ever considered calling yourself a bird while you see you are a human? At least you have denied a much larger thing that you see: your existence! Finally, if it is so difficult to avoid accepting the answer 3, isn't it the same difficult to avoid accepting the existence of God? So what do you say?
What is the law about not filing a tax return when you owe nothing? This question is just theoretical since you would be throwing money away. If the amount withheld from your pay is greater than or equal to your tax liability are there any criminal repercussions for not filing a tax return? All penalties are based on percentages of the amount owed. Please don't just give me what you think. Please give me a link to the specific law and criminal penalties. Every law I can find is for not paying your taxes, not for not filing. Many people say that the IRS says you have to file. I have seen that statement. My question is what happens if you don't file. If you owe nothing can they send you to jail for not filing? All I am asking is to please point out the penalties.
What is the law on children in the front seat? My 3 year old is in a booster seat now. I've been told that when no one else is in the car my mother-in-law puts her in it, in the front passenger seat. Is this ok? Is there any law against this? We are talking UK here.
What is the law about when to charge for an item and shipping? I need to know if there is a law on the books about when a retailer/online retailer can charge for an item before it is shipped. Most retailers will only charge once the item is shipped, but I ordered from a company and they charged me that same day but the item still has not shipped more than 2 weeks later. I need to know the law on this matter so that I can complain with the proper knowledge.
How does a law get passed through the white house? I thought the president decides the law. Than I found out that it had to go through Congress. Than I found out senators were involved. Well, just exactly how does a law get passed? Can someone explain the step-by-step process please? From my understanding, the president makes the proposal, and than what?
What are the challenges to criminal law? I'm writing a term paper titled :Criminal law in developing countries". Part of what to write on is adequacy of modern criminal law / challenges to criminal law. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

Counterfeiting Laws; How do I not break the law when copying money on a printer? I just want to make a one sided bill to prank people, or a two sided if there is a way to not break the law. I heard if you only do one side, or make it smaller or larger it is not considered counterfeiting. I do not want to use it to spend, but to play a prank. How do I not break the law while still making a similar looking bill?
What are different fields of law one can practice after school? I know there are different practices (private, solo, government, etc.), but I am interested to know the different fields you can practice after law school. I have a friend practicing transaction law. Is there a web site or other resource that I could find this with pay and hours?
Can a law office/creditors get the courts to place a lean on ones home if they dont pay their debt? My father had gotten our home loan for my sister and I a few years ago. So his name is on the loan and his name is on the title (My sister and I's name is only on the title). Now he has some debt which the law offices/creditors have taken to court. We were planning on selling our home and moving somewhere else...Would the courts put a lean on our home because of my fathers debt to make us pay before we can sell? To be honest, we cant pay what he owes simply because we cant afford it. Thanks for any info, Ive been stressed over this for a while.
What kind of law practice is best suited for me? I am interested in studying law. However, I have not been successful in finding sources that rate types of practices of law according to salary and hours worked per week. I would prefer not to work more than forty hours per week... but I also know that I will have law school loans to pay... can I have it all? Is there a type of law that I can work 40 hours or less per week, but still make money? Thanks for the input!
What states have law enforcement rangers? I need a list of all the states that have "Law Enforcement Rangers" v.s a list of all the states that use either park police or local police to enforce state park laws and regulations. And any other information about State Park Law enforcement, environmental law enforcement (academys, degrees, positions) would be helpful. Thanks. I am looking for states whose Park Rangers have FULL powers of arrest and state wide jurisdiction. Sworn in officers that carry a gun.
How come law enforcement people are criminals? I got this law enforcement person busted, he try to assault me, and some people on this site who claim to be cops are really rude saying its against the law to defend yourself from a off duty law enforcement person, I sure do help they live in another state and live near only mean nasty people.
How is the law applicable for filing a civil action against an agency in another state? If a person has a contract with an agency in California and the contractor's residence and place of work is in Washington state, can the contractor file a civil action against the agency in Washington? It is good to say that in the contract itself indicates "the agreement is executed in California and shall be construed and enforced in accordance with the state law". But civil action is not about the contract itself, it is about some extra promises and expenses that just were exchanged by Emails and verbal words. Overall, do I need to go to California to pursue the matter or just in Washington state I can initiate the class action?
What is the most prestigious and well respected law school? I have a friend who just completed his pre-law degree at a local university, and is now trying to decide where to go to get his law degree. I suggested Harvard, he's thinking of Stanford or Yale, and another of his friends suggested the University of Oxford, in Britain. Does anyone have any idea which is more respected?
How important is job history on a law school application? I will be applying to law school next year and I am concerned about my lack of job experience. I've been working consistently since I was 16, but either in sales or in the childcare industry. Will these type of jobs badly affect my chances of getting into an excellent law school? I attend a very prestigious school with a decent GPA and am an athlete as well as a board member of a large club. Should I try to get a job in another field in order to boost my application? If so, what type of positions should I be looking for. Thanks!
What is the law concerning passing a school bus? I live in Texas and I have tried to find an answer online. What is the law pertaining to passing a school bus on a roadway that has more than two lanes? Some of these "answers" are hilarious. Jurydoc got it for me. I went to Texas Department of Public Safety but I could not find the answer. Thanks Jurydoc. By the way, the reason I am asking is that my son is riding the bus for the first time this year and I have seen too many motorists passing the bus while it is stopped. This morning, one of the motorists was a sheriff.

Where is it law limiting the maximum number of dogs in a family to 4? Some woman posted a traumatic story of having to give up 2 dogs as they owned 6 and she stated state law only allowed a family to own 4. I don't know of any place where this is STATE law as she said, but I did find there is such a law in Haverstraw, NY. Are there other places with such a law?
Is there a law stating we have to pay federal taxes? I have been doing some research into the Federal Reserve Bank and how it states in our constitution that hiring a private bank to mint monies for the government is illegal. As a result of the Federal Reserve Bank minting money, the government decided to charge the American people a "Federal Tax" to pay back interest to the Federal Reserve. However, they never put this into law.
How to understand and master the law of attraction? I want to use the law of attraction (as described in the secret) to get this girl that I'm interested in. How can this be done? What can a law enforcement do if a parent is about to drive drunk and the child calls police? I have a son, whose father is legallay allowed to have our son for 2 weeks visitation. I am afraid after a drunken phone call last night that his father, who has a court order against him that says he is not allowed to drink while our child is in his custody, may try to pick up our child from the airport while intoxicated (similar things happened over a decade ago). Now, I have told my son, under no circumstances is he to get into a car if his father smells like alcohol. Will the law enforcement community help my son if he calls from an airport phone? What can he do, being a minor, to keep his father from making him and his little sister get into the car? If my son has the court order in his hand, and calls the police, are they going to help him? Or does he actually have to commit the driving crime (dui/dwi) and endanger our child before they can help? I have to allow this visitation, per court order. My son says he will do this, but I shouldn't have to ask. So what do I do?

Law. Is it the "schoolmaster" that fails every student; not leading any to life, rather all to destruction? Law: the root source of sin (Rom 4:15; 5:13) Law: "strength" of sin's "death" sting (1Cor 15:56) Law: "strong man" of the hse of sin & death (Mk 3:27) Law: a "ministration of death", not of life (2Cor 3:7) Law: "horse" Death rode in on & hell follows (Rev 6:8) Law: broad way leads to "destruction", not life (Mt 7) Law imputed sin brings death when it is finished (Jam 1) The law is not of faith: Gal 3:12 Whatsoever is not of faith is sin: Rom 14:23 Without faith it's impossible to please God: Heb 11 Mt 22:36-40 law law says: 2nd(law) is like the 1st(law). In Rom 8:2 law law: the 1st(law) is notably sin & death. So Love(God) thy neighbor with "law" is "sin" & "death". Seven "deadly" sins: 1)Law 2)Law 3)Law 4)Law 5)Law 6)Law 7)Law (the "seven spirits" of Revelation) Heb 7: law priests weren't allowed to continue, notably by reason of "death" ('result' of law) Heb 11: these all died & rec'd not the promise. Jude 5: grace + law is as saved + destroyed after.
Romans 8:2 Law Law? Is the second not like the first as told us in Mt 22:36-40 Law Law? Mt 22:36-40 Law Law Law: Love the Lord thy God Law: Love thy neighbor Rom 8:2 Law Law Law: of sin & death Law: of the Spirit Mt 22 notes the second(law) is like the first(law). Plug this info in Rom 8:2, the 2nd also a dead end. The law is not of faith: Gal 3:12 And whatsoever is not of faith is sin: Rom 14:23 So Love(God) thy neighbor by "law" is "sin" & "death". For the law is a "ministration of death" in 2Cor 3:7. Law is the strength of sin's death sting in 1Cor 15:56. Law is old, faulty, and ready to vanish in Hebrews 8. Law knowledge, which puffeth up, shall vanish in 1Cor 13. Evidence points to law being the "enmity" in Eph 2:15. And when connecting biblical allegory dots law is evil: Mt 6: Our Father...deliver us from "evil". Rom 7:6 We are delivered from "the law". Law is good, but it's also evil: corruptible. Grace also good, but never evil: incorruptible. The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Does law, law imputed sin, reconcile or alienate the world? Where no law, there no transgression: Rom 4:15. No sin is imputed when there's no law: Rom 5:13. Jews requested abolition of law: Deut 18:16,17. Christ isn't the mend of law: Lk 5:36,37. Christ is the end of the law: Rom 10:4. Christ is our peace who abolished the law: Eph 2. Reconciling the world is done "in Christ": 2Cor 5:19. It's also notably done by "that God" of this/that Gods. Reconciling the world does not (law) impute sin. So it reasons law alienates instead of reconciles. No law = No sin imputed: Psalms 32:2 ... Romans 4:8 ... 2Corinthians 5:19 Psalms 32:2 (Rom 4:8) is where David speaks of "the blessedness of man": "Blessed the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin". The man Paul put away childish things: laws. In 2Corinthians 5:19 reconciling the world is done "in Christ", in one man kind who's the end of the law, thereby end of law imputed sin and it's death sting law was source & strength of: Rom 5:13; 1Cor 15:56; Jam 1:15 Your thoughts on it?
British Law Schools & Australian Law Schools. Which should I choose? I have offers to read law (at undergraduate level) from both British and Australian Law Schools. I intend to practice Law in Asia (places like Singapore & Hong Kong). The offers from the Australian Law schs are for double degrees in Law & Economics. Where's the best place to go to read law-- Britain or Australia? Law schools in question: British Law Schs: Nottingham, Durham & Warwick Australian Law Schs: Australian National University University of New South Wales I would really like to hear from lawyers, law students or anyone familiar with Law in both countries. I would also appreciate any official rankings of any sort with regards to Law-- to facilitate comparison between these law schools. I am more interested in the academic standing and quality of education, rather than the specific location, facilities or cost. Serious answers only please. Thank you so much!
Law: shame on them. Law Law: shame on us.? "Law worketh wrath", also "death" & "hell". "God hath not appointed us unto wrath(law)". We aren't under law, but delivered from law. Which (law/grace)"things" are an "allegory", written "aforetime" for y(our) "learning", to learn "grace is sufficient"(no law req'd). It's appauling how "many" of us are law law. http://www.godshew.org/TwainShew4.htm#Laws There should be more scrutiny & less mutiny, in the body of "Christ": "the end of the law", lest all persish due to "willing ignorance". Holy Bible: not a book that thinks for you, rather it is the book that makes you think. The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Matthew 22: 36-40 Law Law? ... Romans 8:2 Law Law? Comments? Many seem to think the second "law" of Mt 22 law law and the second "law" of Rom 8 law law is Godly, but it clearly states "the second (law) is like unto the first": it's "law"; And in the case of Rom 8 the first is clearly sin and death. Reason: law the strength of sin's death sting (1Cor 15:56). Not to mention the second law in Rom 8 law law is life in CJ, which is mirrorly the reverse of JC, which is the only foundation laid we should build on. Many fly high via the law of aerodynamics till this law gives place to the law of gravity. In the most recent case in Armenia, in the black sea, there were no survivors. All law, written in stone & in ink, is to be done away (2Cor 3), because it's a ministration of condemnation (sin imputation) and a ministration of death. When no law, no sin imputed (Rom 4:15; 5:13), and thereby no death sting (1Cor 15:56; James 1:15).

Fulfillment of the law vs Abolition of the law. Which is our peace? There seems to be plenty of Mt 22: 36-40 "law law" and Rom 8:2 "law law" going to and fro the earth, but not a lot of peace. Perhaps because the second "law" is notably like the first "law", and in Rom 8:2 the first "law" is notably sin and death, which in Rev 6:8 is followed by hell, the hell of endless division, not peace. Many say Christ fulfilled the law (which would be suicide-all), but my Bible says Christ abolished the law, and is thereby our peace, not our division nor warfare. The war and warfare is over in Christ. In him there is no sin, which is to say no law, since only law imputes sin. To wit: that God was in Christ reconcling the world unto himself, NOT imputing tresspasses(sins), not even to them. Not to mention God did NOT send his Son to condemn(law) the world, but rather through him the world might be saved (from law). Not to meniton God did not send his Son till "the fulness of the time" for the law part of the law/grace shew had expired: Gal 4 I am (grace) not come to destroy (law), but to fulfill (grace). Only grace fulfills, for only grace is sufficient. Law is insufficient, limited. Laws written in stone and in ink were "added" and "because of the transgression", and "where no law there is no transgression". So for the woman to be "in the transgression" there had to be a law way back before other laws were added. Perhaps we should look at Gen 2: 17, which contradicts Gen 2:16, as the law of commandments sound minded Christ abolished, thereby effectively abolishing all law written in stone and in ink, since they were added because of the transgression, or because of the law. Which things are an allegory, and a mystery to solve, by give more earnest heed to what's been said.
Biblical law? Even if someone kept it all, would it make them righteous? Matthew 19:20 - a young man had kept all laws mentioned, the 6th mentioned being love thy neighbor, but he still had lack. Romans 9:31 - Israel (of Jacob-->Israel) zealously followed after law, but hath not attained to the righteousness of law. Deuteronomy: The curse of the law suggests if anyone tries and fails to keep all the law all the time, unto a thousand generations, then all are accursed. 2Corinthians 3:7 If law is also the ministration of death, then keeping all law would result in a dead end, even extinction. Colossians 2:20 seems to concur by using of laws all perish. Many say Jesus kept all the law, or fulfilled the law; But many verses indicate what made jews mad was he broke the law. Matthew 24:21 seems to indicate JC neither obeyed nor disobeyed law, but rather gave it no place, by saying of great tribulation: it was not since time began, no, nor ever shall be. John 1:17 seems to indicate grace & truth came by JC as comparion to law & lie of Moses John 3:17 says God did not send his Son to condemn(law) the world; And 2Cor3:9 says the law ministrates condemnation, and is to be done away. John 5:45 flat out says law is accuser of the brethren, and JC would not do this. Jesus was made under the law; Yet Christ is the end of the law. Eternal salvation is through Jesus-->Christ. If led of the Spirit (Rom & Gal): Ye are not under law, but grace. Ye are not under Jesus, but Christ. Galatians 5:4 If justified by law, then fallen from grace. If justified by Jesus, Christ of no effect. Which things are an allegory: Gal 4 The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, so then seek first the kingdom of God: seems to indicate the KofH isn't KofG. God's right-eousness isn't your right, which is described as bloody rags; So seek first his righteousness is perhaps not the better of law vs law, but grace which is above such war in heaven.
Rule of Law? What about ye are not under the law, but under grace, if led of the Spirit? I keep hearing 'rule of law' among christian nations. Is 'Rule of Law' our problem, rather than the solution? Have we not learned law is corruptible, but grace incorruptible? Have we not learned law and grace are "contrary" things; And contrary things only mix to make an oxyMORON? Hence biblical conclusion: Grace with you all. Amen. Many Christians say: just forgiven, not perfect. Bible says: not just forgiven, but made perfect; And perfected by "Christ": "the end of the law". Many Christians say we need law to know sin; and go about law imputing sin, for the hell of it. Bible says law imputes sin, which imputes death; So, to have eternal life, make law dead testator. For all perish by using of ordinances: Col 2:20-22. Not to mention evidence makes it "evident" no man justified by the law in God's sight. Many Christians say law leads them to Christ. Bible says the law leads them to destruction; as if a schoolmaster that fails every student. Your comments
mother in law? A Mother-in-law decides to see if her three son-in-law's love her or at least appreciate her... The next day while strolling along the river with her first son-in-law, she lets herself fall into the water and starts to drown. Without hesitation, the son-in-law jumps in the river and saves his mother-in-law. The next day, in front of his house, he finds a new car, a City Honda, with a little note on the windshield: Thank-you on behalf of your mother-in-law. She undertakes the same scenario with her second eldest son-in-law. This one too, dives into the river and saves his mother-in-law. The next day, he too, in front of his house, finds a new car: the same City Honda with a little note on the windshield: Thank-you on behalf of your mother-in-law. The same scenario occurs with the third son-in-law, she falls in the water and starts to drown. He watches his mother-in-law drown while thinking to himself: I've been waiting a long time for this! The next day, in front of his house, he sees a brand new Mercedez with a little note on the windshield: Thank-you on behalf of your father-in-law.
Can biblical law actually be obeyed, or is it a mission imposible; only an imperfect counter part in a shew? Curse of the law (paraphrased): if any try & fail to keep all the law all the time, then all are accursed thereby; and penalty for law imputed sin is death, to all if any try & fail to keep it all. Jesus, Paul, and James seem to note: if you breach one jot or tiddle of law, you have as much as breached all the law, and become guilty as hell of sin thereby. Paul says law is: a ministration of death: 2Cor 3:7 a ministration of condemnation: 3:9 essentially the put off to put away God did NOT send his Son to condemn(law): Jn 3:17 Law worketh wrath: Rom 4:15 God hath NOT appt'd us unto wrath(law): 1Thes 5:9 Only condition of Abrahamic covenant is: be perfect (also merciful: Mt 5:48; Lk 6:36) Law canNOT make comers thereunto perfect, since it is faulty, fault-finding: Hebrews Law isn't perfect nor merciful, but corruptible. Perhaps biblical reason "eternal salvation" is "through Jesus -> Christ", is because "Christ" thereof is "the end of the law". Comment
Two Law Law Resurrections of Jesus: made under law vs One Grace Us Resurrection of Christ: the end of the law? Anyone noticed Johnny Law Law is the only "verily, verily" gospel account of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John; And the latter of two resurrections of "verily, verily" Jesus therein is of damnation; Not to mention the resurrection of life is perhaps life + death; Since both sides of Law vs Law are a ministration of death; And life in CJ of Romans 8 Law vs Law the life of life + death. Every way you look at Law vs Law it's as Loser vs Loser. Above such is the resurrection of Christ, seated higher than the plural dividead heavens on high.
UK Law with American Law degree? I have found a UK LLB course which is entitled "LLB Law with American Law". I would apprecaite some opinions on this. I am unsure whether to do a sole English based law degree or the law degree which includes American law. Apparently, even with the Law with American Law degree, you can still qualify to become a solicitor in the UK. You also get to spend a year in the US and study alongside their Law students. So what would a potential employer think of a degree in Law with American Law? Thanks.
My sister in law passed away She asked that my mother in law not attend her funeral and bro in law upheld wish My sister in law had cancer. She was diagnosed about 10 months ago. She had asked her husband (my husband's brother) to not allow his mother at her funeral. She primarily did it to make her own mother comfortable, but also to make many of us more comfortable. My mother in law has never accepted her daughters in law as family. I support my sister in law's wish, but do feel compassion for my mother in law. My mother in law did not attend and is now calling my husband constantly to vent. It's making me crazy. Long story short - mother in law was laid off from her job a year and a half ago. Did nothing to find a new job. Sister in law was diagnosed with cancer. Mother in law said "God didn't want me to find a job so I could take care of Sally". Mothe rin law went to care for Sally. 2 months later mother in law says to son "I would have a job and wouldn't be worried about money if I didn't have to be here to help out." I just need some opinions. Thanks.

Law School / Bar Exam Question? I'm applying to law school soon, but I will NOT be going to law school in the same state that I ultimately plan on living in. So my actual question is this: If I go to law school in one state, how do I get set up to practice law in a different state after graduation? Will I need to take 2 different bar exams? If so, will it be difficult passing the bar exam in the second state since I didn't study law in that state? Also, does the MBE (multistate bar exam) play any sort of role? Thanks PS - If it makes any difference, I plan to study law in the continental U.S., but after law school I plan on moving back to Hawaii where my wife's family lives. So I'll be doing law school here on the mainland, but I want to ultimately practice in Hawaii. Also, I don't plan on going to U. of Hawaii's law school so offering that as an answer won't help much. Thanks again!
International Law? If you sudied or are studing international law or work in the field, please tell me where you studied and if you enjoy what you do. I am currently a legal studies major hoping to start law school in 2008. I would like to study internaional law while in law school. My current prefferences for law schools are [US] Columbia University, Boston Univeristy, New York University [England] London College, Oxford University [SA] Univeristy of Witwatersrand Law School,University of Capetown, University of Stellenbosch. There is of course the University of the West Indies (both Mona and Augustine campuses). As you can see I don't really care what country I got to law school in as long as they speak english and have courses in international law. I am also intersted in laws on the rights of the child and course in that area. If you have studied or are studying law in any of these schools please let me know what you thought/think about your experience. Thank you! Well I did do some research. That is why Columbia, Boston University and NYU are my top three schools in the US. All three have excelent international law programs. Columbia offers a Dual degree programme that allows you to earn your JD and LLM in 3 years in a joint programme between Columbia and affiliated London Universities. Boston U has an excelent study abroad program, it has one of the only undergraduate legal internships (their Summer in London programme). NYU has a good reputation as well. UWI is has the most recognised law school in the English speaking Caribbean. While the South Afircan law schools all teach international law one actually has courses on the charter of child rights My problem is that websites and books can only tell you so much about these places and what to expect studying there. Hearing the experience of some one who has actually done it gives me a better understanding of what to expec. Thanks to everyone who has aswered so far.
Law makes grace "no more grace". Law imputed sin makes sinners all, none righteous, no, not one. God is one? Who then is gonna save yer ass is grass via "law worketh wrath"(Rom 4:15) and law is a "ministration of death" (2Cor 3:7), if ye continue to add such "law worketh wrath" to "grace is sufficient", and thereby such law imputed sin makes sinners all, none righteous, no, not one; if God is one? And if adding law to grace makes it "no more grace", where then salvation by grace if it's then "no more grace"? A little leaven[law] leaventh the whole lump? A little cancer us law kills the whole body? (perhaps the whole body includes the head) Is it wise to law-impute deadly sin for the "hell" of it? Wouldn't it be as suicide-all to do "sow" & "such like"? Did "that God" in "Christ" do it to "them" in 2Cor 5:19?
Does mend law rather than end law leave us stuck in a moral stone age of law vs law instead of grace & peace? Many take pride in having law that makes it the right of all men to have life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Many also take pride in ammending such law to include women. Progress. But constant making and ammending of imperfect and corruptible laws never seems to make it all right. In fact, the more laws we create and ammend, the more confusion we seem to create among masses. If law imputes a crime(sin), the more law we create, the more criminals(sinners) we create thereby. Is being right to make others wrong all right? Or is it perhaps inexcusable and self condemning, as noted in Romans 2? Romans 2: thou art "inexcusable", O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou "condemnest thyself" The law Jesus imputed sin by, to make "sinners", seems to have also put an "accusation" over his head, crucifying him with indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish to the point he was heard saying he felt forsaken. What are your thoughts on law? Christ is the end of the law: Rom 10:4; Not the mend of law: Luke 5:36,37. The law is not of faith: Gal 3:11 No man is justified by law: Gal 3:12 If justified by law, then fallen from grace; And if fallen, Christ of no effect to you: Galatians 5:4
Mosaic Law? I'm sorry, but reading through some of your answers here recently about the 10 Commandments, Mosaic Law and other Jewish Law it is apparent that many of you do not understand what "Law" really means. Please consider Mosaic Law, civil law and ceremonial law. We as Christians have abandoned the last two for the new and everlasting Covenant that Jesus brought into the world. We are still under the Mosaic Law, (i.e., the Ten Commandments, etc....) Are you saying that we do not have to abide within the 10 Commandments anymore? How about - " I did not come to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it." as Jesus spoke. Much of the Law is not abolished. Question - what Mosaic Laws do you not think are relevent anymore?
Law of Detachment and Law of Syllogism. 9th grade? I have a worksheet on Law of Detachment and Law of Syllogism. I will just post 2 questions here. Please answer and try to explain. ________________________________________________ Determine if a valid conclusion can be reached from the two true statements using Law of Detachment or Law of Syllogism. If a valid conclusion is possble, state it and the law that is used. If a valid conclusion does not draw, write no conclusion 1. If Jim is a Texan, then he is an American Jim is a Texan Next section. Determine if statment (3) follows from statements (1) and (2) by the law of Detachment of the Law of Syllogism. If it does, state which law was used. If it does not, write invalid. ___________________________________________________ 6. (1) If the measure of an angle is greater then 90, then it is obtuse. (2) the measure of angle T is greater then 90. (3) measure of angle T is obtuse.
What Other "Law and Order" Shows Should They Do? I for one never watched a single episode of any one of the "Law and Order" variations. I just don't care about the "drama" and "intrigue" related to being a LAWYER. Yuck! But it seems like every new season they come out with yet ANOTHER variation on that show. "Law and Order" "Law and Order: CI" (Criminall Investigations) "Law and Order: SVU" (Special Victims Unit) I was thinking that maybe Hollywood needs some suggestions for the next offshoot, so that they can continue to make hour-long dramas over the most boring of topics. Like: "Law and Order: TC" (Traffic Court) "Law and Order: SCC" (Small Claims Court) "Law and Order: BDI" (Barking Dog Investigations) "Law and Order: CCP" (County Clerk Paperwork) "Law and Order: CC" (Corporate Contracts) "Law and Order: AP" (Arbitrations Procedings) Maybe NBC can eventually dedicate a full cable channel for this purpose. NBC-LO can replace MS-NBC. What other offshoots do you think they should consider?
Mother-in law? A Mother-in law wanted to check with her son in laws about their love for her. She took one son in law to a lake and accidentally fell in the water. The son in law saved her from drowning. Next day the son in law found a Honda with a card attached to it from the mother in law. After a week she did the same with the second son in law with the same result, and he too got a Honda. Next week she repeated the scene with the third son in law but he did not save her and she drowned. The following day the third son in law saw a Mercedes car near his house given to him by his father in law.

Law Enforcement? Everyday we come across police and brueaucrats who seem to be: 1. Blindly following the law. Without either interpreting it in terms of context or the sprit behind it. 2. Using the law for personal gain. Wasn't the basic idea of all rules and regulations to simply make human life easier? Instead we increasingly have a situation where we have become slaves to laws. Consider this very strange law: 1. Any woman can file a complaint against her in-laws and have the arrested on a non-bailable warrant (no investigation required!). This is a law in India (and frequently used!). Consider this very strange directive from a court: 1. Unless under extreme circumstances, a woman's complaint about rape must be treated correct.(What! Are we saying - no real investigation necessary !!!). These are all attempts to hide a poor, inefficient and corrupt police system, by creating strange laws and directives !! Have we lost the soul or the real reason behind creating any laws !!

Law Enforcement? I just read an article about San Diego Padres pitcher Peavy who was arrested in Alabama for double parking. The story says Peavy was told by a policeman to move his car and he replied: "write me a ticket and I'll pay it" and he was subsecuently arrested. Although this is a silly example it reminded me of how law enforcement officials abuse their power. It's my opionion that this abuse is due to the lack of knowledge of the laws they enforce. That is to say: the philosophy of law, why we have laws, an appreciation of the law, and most importantly: legal experience. I think "law enforcers" should be experienced lawyers not high school or junior college graduates who have self esteem problems. This would do a number of things for the system: raise wages of those who enforce the law and provide better law enforcement.
Where can i find law textbooks concerning Private internatinal law? Law School & International Law-Best Schools To Attend? I am applying for law school in 2008. I live in Chicago so i'm looking to apply to Loyola, UIC and U of I Urbana-Champagne. My main goal is to study International Law with an emphasis on human and international rights law. Specifically refugees/immigrants/marginalized populations. But my broad scope is international/human rights law. I would like to attend a school with amazing internship and study/work abroad programs available to law students. I know this is unusual and have only seen one university on the East coast that has a co-op program for law students. Any suggestions on universities locally and abroad? Any good experiences doing a semester or 6 week course in law overseas? Ideas and suggestions are welcome as I start applying in the next month. I am looking to attend outside Illinois, as well. Anyone know if U of M in Michigan has a good reputation in international law/human rights?

Law School and Criminal Justice Major? I know that traditionally law schools look for political science, philosophy, economics, etc. majors and that they don't view criminal justice as a rigorous enough degree. I am majoring in criminal justice and after graduating would maybe like to go into law enforcement (police work) and maybe juvenile or adult probation to start out in the CJ field. Another interest has been law school but with a CJ major I may be at a disadvantage because CJ isn't always viewed as very prestigious. My school has a Pre Law program with many Political Science and Philosophy courses related to law. Would going through this Pre Law program, along with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice increase the chances of law school acceptance with a CJ degree? Anyone out there get accepeted into law school with a Criminal Justice degree?
How would you feel if this Immigration Law was U.S. Policy? In regards to Immigration Policies, according to the International Treaty, we are supposed to be in line with our neighboring Countries. We are not. I would like to have adopted, the Law Mexico enforces. Fair is fair. What do you think? Read on. Mexico has a radical idea for a rational immigration policy that most Americans would love. However, Mexican officials haven’t been sharing that idea with us as they press for the U.S. Congress to adopt the McCain-Kennedy immigration reform bill. That’s too bad, because Mexico, which annually deports more illegal aliens than the United States does, has much to teach us about how it handles the immigration issue. Under Mexican law, it is a felony to be an illegal alien in Mexico. At a time when the Supreme Court and many politicians seek to bring American law in line with foreign legal norms, it’s noteworthy that nobody has argued that the U.S. look at how Mexico deals with immigration and what it might teach us about how best to solve our illegal immigration problem. Mexico has a single, streamlined law that ensures that foreign visitors and immigrants are: In Mexico legally; Have the means to sustain themselves economically; Not destined to be burdens on society; Of economic and social benefit to society; Of good character and have no criminal records; and Contributors to the general well being of the nation. The law also ensures that: Authorities have a record of each foreign visitor; Foreign visitors do not violate their visa status; Foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the countrys internal politics; Foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are imprisoned or deported; Foreign visitors violating the terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported; Those who aid in illegal immigration will be sent to prison. Who could disagree with such a law? It makes perfect sense. The Mexican constitution strictly defines the rights of citizens and the denial of many fundamental rights to non-citizens, both illegal and illegal. Under the constitution, the Ley General de Poblacion, or General Law on Population spells out specifically the country’s immigration policy. It is an interesting law - and one that should cause us all to ask, “Why is our southern neighbor pushing us to water down our own immigration laws and policies, when its own immigration restrictions are the toughest on the continent?” If a felony is a crime punishable by more than one year in prison, then Mexican law makes it a felony to be an illegal alien in Mexico. If the United States adopted such statutes, Mexico no doubt would denounce them as a manifestation of American racism and bigotry. We looked at the immigration provisions of the Mexican constitution. Now lets look at Mexico’s main immigration law. Mexico welcomes only foreigners who will be useful to Mexican society: Foreigners are admitted into Mexico according to their possibilities of contributing to national progress. (Article 32) Immigration officials must ensure that immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance and for their dependents. (Article 34) Foreigners may be barred from the country if their presence upsets the equilibrium of the national demographics, when foreigners are deemed detrimental to economic or national interests, when they do not behave like good citizens in their own country, when they have broken Mexican laws, and when they are not found to be physically or mentally healthy. (Article 37) The Secretary of Governance may suspend or prohibit the admission of foreigners when he determines it to be in the national interest. (Article 38) Mexican authorities must keep track of every single person in the country: Federal, local and municipal police must cooperate with federal immigration authorities upon request, i.e., to assist in the arrests of illegal immigrants. (Article 73) A National Population Registry keeps track of every single individual who comprises the population of the country, and verifies each individual’s identity. (Articles 85 and 86) A national Catalog of Foreigners tracks foreign tourists and immigrants (Article 87), and assigns each individual with a unique tracking number (Article 91). Foreigners with fake papers, or who enter the country under false pretenses, may be imprisoned: Foreigners with fake immigration papers may be fined or imprisoned. (Article 116) Foreigners who sign government documents with a signature that is false or different from that which he normally uses are subject to fine and imprisonment. (Article 116) Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned as felons: Foreigners who fail to obey a deportation order are to be punished. (Article 117) Foreigners who are deported from Mexico and attempt to re-enter the country without authorization can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. (Article 118) Foreigners who violate the terms of their visa may be sentenced to up to six years in prison (Articles 119, 120 and 121). Foreigners who misrepresent the terms of their visa while in Mexico such as working with out a permit can also be imprisoned. Under Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony. The General Law on Population says, A penalty of up to two years in prison and a fine of three hundred to five thousand pesos will be imposed on the foreigner who enters the country illegally. (Article 123) Foreigners with legal immigration problems may be deported from Mexico instead of being imprisoned. (Article 125) Foreigners who attempt against national sovereignty or security will be deported. (Article 126) Mexicans who help illegal aliens enter the country are themselves considered criminals under the law: A Mexican who marries a foreigner with the sole objective of helping the foreigner live in the country is subject to up to five years in prison. (Article 127) Shipping and airline companies that bring undocumented foreigners into Mexico will be fined. (Article 132) All of the above runs contrary to what Mexican leaders are demanding of the United States. The stark contrast between Mexico’s immigration practices versus its American immigration preaching is telling. It gives a clear picture of the Mexican government’s agenda: to have a one-way immigration relationship with the United States. Let’s call Mexico’s bluff on its unwarranted interference in U.S. immigration policy. Let’s propose, just to make a point, that the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) member nations standardize their immigration laws by using Mexico’s own law as a model. Any guess as to which nation would object the loudest to such a proposal?
